Temperature to rise further in Delhi before rain brings respite

Residents of Delhi experienced a warm and humid day on Friday, and the weather department predicts that the maximum temperature will continue to rise on Saturday.

According to the weather department, the maximum temperature increased by two degrees Celsius on Friday and is expected to rise even further over the next few days. However, there is some relief in sight as light rain and thunder activity are anticipated in the next three to four days.

The air had some moisture due to rain that occurred the previous day, which, coupled with the rising temperature, added to the discomfort. The clear sky in the coming days will cause the maximum temperature to increase until May 21, and it is expected to remain nearly the same on May 22. However, starting from the evening of May 23, there is a possibility of rain due to a fresh western disturbance, as stated by Kuldeep Srivastava, a weather scientist from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

On Friday, the maximum temperature reached 38.2 degrees Celsius, which is two notches below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.4 degrees Celsius, also two notches below normal. Najafgarh was the warmest area in the city, with a temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius, followed by 40 degrees Celsius at the sports complex in Akshardham.
